Tetrahalophthalate ester flame retardent processing aid (11) for thermoplastic resin (1) has formula (A) where R=H, opt. substd. 1-30C alkyl, 2-20C hydroxyalkyl, 3-10C polyhydroxyalkyl gp. or HCH2O)b-R8 where R8=opt. substd. 1-18C alkyl and b=1-50; R1=H opt. substd. 1-30C alkyl, opt. substd. 2-22C alkenyl gp. C(O)R7 where R7=1-18C alkyl gp. 3-12C polyhydroxyalkyl gp. GPs (B)-(D), etc. where 1 or 2 1 to 3 R2=H or Me; p=0-50; q=1-6; X=O or NH; A=Cl or Br. Resin compsns. opt. contain an additional Br- or CL- contg. flame retardant (111).
