The method for the machining, such as severing, forming, postforming, sharpening or resharpening, of workpieces or tools or tool parts made from metal-bonded non-conducting hard materials such as artifical diamonds or boron nitrides by means of electroerosion, the piece to be machined representing one electrode in the electroerosive system, on which a second electrode acts which is moved, characterised in that there is used as the second electrode a rotating tool which also has a mechanical action and which itself consists of metalbonded non- conducting hard material, and in the first instance no mechanical contact occurs but instead, over a preset small spacing, a spark flashover which removes material from the workpiece.
