A bed or couch has a frame consisting of two or more resilient longitudinal members (12). These longitudinal members support a number of equally spaced transverse laths (13) to form a lattice-type framework. The longitudinal members are joined together by a sheet of plastic film or textile (35). Opposite edges of this sheet are fastened to the projecting ends of the transverse laths.
