The layered product (laminate) consists of a wood veneer with a thickness of 0.4 to 2.0 mm and a polyvinyl alcohol foil with a thickness of 0.01 to 0.5 mm. The foil is bonded to the wood veneer by mean of an adhesive. The wood veneer is preferably a hardwood veneer. The layered product is distinguished by an increased tear strength; it is thus also suitable for veneering uneven surfaces.
