PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness of a focus detecting device by providing plural pairs of photoelectric element arrays and staggering the electric charge accumulation timings of plural arrays each other by an accumulation control means. CONSTITUTION:Two pairs of photoelectric element arrays 8a, 8b, 9a and 9b are provided in the image sensor 4 of the focus detecting device, wherein an object is photoelectrically converted by the arrays and becomes sensor outputs S1 and S2. When the outputs are transferred, the device is constituted to stagger the electric charge accumulation timings each other by the control signals M1, M2 of the accumulation control means M1 and M2. Thus, when the output S1 is transferred to a defocus amount detecting means 10 to calculate a first defocus amount D1, a defocus amount D2 is calculated according to the output S2 by staggering the timing. Since focusing of a photographing lens 1 is performed according to the amounts D1 and D2, responsiveness can be improved. |
