The invention relates to the assembly of an upright 1, pierced with holes 3, 4, and of a second element 2 one end of which is provided with stubs 7, 8. The end in question includes an overhanging support flange 6. A locking component 9 slides along the upright 1 and clamps both the upright 1 and the support flange 5 whilst the stubs 7, 8 are positioned in the holes 3, 4 of the upright 1. The second element may be a crosspiece or a linking element. The invention also relates to shelving whose uprights and crosspieces are pierced with holes and are assembled by virtue of the aforementioned linking elements 8 and locking components. <IMAGE>
