摘要 PURPOSE:To estimate the surface temperature of a thermal head with accuracy by providing a temperature sensor installed on a thermal printing head with thermal resistance elements on the front, a temperature estimation means to estimate the surface temperature of an ink jet head based on an output signal of a temperature sensor, a variation value per specified time of the output signal and data of a recording line. CONSTITUTION:Look-up tables LUT 32, 34 are employed as a means to obtain a standard value THO of a head surface temperature based on data of a recording line and an output signal of a temperature sensor and a means to obtain an estimated value THY of a head surface temperature based on the standard value THO of the head surface temperature and the time variation factor dT of an output signal from the temperature sensor. Since experimental or statistical data is used as such, signal processing is performed at high speed. If data on the estimated value THy(n) of the head surface temperature obtained as described above is used for temperature compensation, the heat accumulation effect of the head surface is cancelled with accuracy.
