PURPOSE: To obtain an accurate measurement result regardless of deformation due to external influence at a low cost by maintaining an essentially elliptical profile and maintaining the length of a vertical spindle constantly when the section of a hollow space is deformed due to external influence. CONSTITUTION: A measuring pipe 11 has an elliptical cross section, a spindle A matches the connection line of two electrodes 14 and 15, the gap between the electrodes 14 and 15 is equal to a length 2a of the spindle A, and a spindle B that is vertical to it matches the direction of a magnetic field H. Then, the electrodes 14 and 15 are used to take out a voltage Um that is induced when a conductive medium flow through the pipe 11. The voltage Um depends on the interval of the electrodes 14 and 15 and a specific relationship is established in reference to the flow of the medium. Then, the cross section changes due to external. influence during operation, especially the pressure and temperature of the medium. Then, the pipe 11 is engaged at two opposite points in the direction of diameter on the spindle B and is stabilized, the length of the spindle A changes necessarily, and an approximated elliptical shape can be formed without any special means with a uniform thickness.
