Cpds of formula R1R2N-CR3(CH2SQ)2 (I) (where R1 and R2 are H or 1-5C alkyl or NR1R2 is a ring which may contain a further N- or O-atom; R3 is H or 1-5C alkyl; and Q is -CS-SR4, -S-CS-OR6, R4 is 1-4X alkyl and R5 and R6 are 1-8C alkyl or is not >7C cycloalkyl; provided that when Q is -S-CS-OR6 and R1 and R2 are H or 1-5C alkyl, then R3 is 1-5C alkyl) and their acid addn salts have strong insecticidal and, esp. fungicidal activity and low toxicity towards warm-blooded animals. I; Q=-CS-SR4) are prepd by reacting R1R2NCR3(CH2-S-SO3M1)2 (where M1 is Na or K) with is not 2 equivs. of M2S-CS-SR4 (where M is an alkali metal). (I; Q=-S-CO-OR5) are prepd by reacting R1R2N-CR3 (CH2-SM3)2 (where M3 is Na or K) with is not 2 equivalents of X'S-CO-Or5 (where X' is cl or Br). (I; Q=-S-CS-OR6) are prepd by reacting R1R2NCR3(CH2SY)2 (where Y is a residue exchangeable for a xanthogenate, e.g. toluenesulphonyl or benzenesulphonyl) with a M4S-CS-OR6 (where M4 is an alkali cation).
