The subject of the invention is an electric transmission device for tracked vehicles. According to the invention the device comprises an engine 10, such as a diesel engine, whose output shaft drives an alternator 14 by means of a multiplier 12. The output from the alternator 14 is connected to the input of two cycloconverters with thyristors 16a and 16b mounted in parallel. Each of the cycloconverters respectively powers a reciprocating motor 18a, 18b. Each motor 18a, 18b is connected to its respective track sprocket 22a, 22b by means of a reduction gear train 20a and 20b respectively. The device further comprises a control unit 26 provided so as to deliver to the alternator and to the cycloconverters, control signals (intended particularly for controlling the thyristors) as a function of steering, accelerator and brake controls from the driving position.
