PURPOSE:To control the potential of an anode, to control the potential of a cathode by controlling the anode potential, and to supplement the charging shortage of the cathode to lengthen the life of a battery by containing 0.001-0.05wt.% antimony in an anode active material. CONSTITUTION:An antimony-free anode grid is used and 0.001-0.05wt.% antimony is contained in an anode material. By containing a small amount of antimony in the active material, the potential of an anode is controlled and the potential of a cathode is controlled by controlling the anode potential to supplement the charging of the anode and to lengthen the life of a battery. If the content of antimony exceeds 0.05wt.%, the self discharge and decrease in electrolyte are sharply increased. |
