PURPOSE:To obtain a recording liquid having excellent long-term storage stability and giving a recorded image having high water and light resistance without depositing a precipitate on a heating head, by dispersing an oil phase in a dye-containing aqueous medium in emulsified state and suppressing the silicon concentration. CONSTITUTION:The objective recording liquid is produced by dispersing an oil phase (e.g., silicone oil) in emulsified state in an aqueous medium (preferably a mixture of water and a water-soluble organic solvent such as diethylene glycol) containing a dye (preferably acid dye or direct dye) and, at the same time, suppressing the silicon concentration to <=10ppm. Preferably, the concentration of iron is also adjusted to <=10ppm as well as the silicon concentration. The adjustment of the silicon and iron concentration is carried out by treating an aqueous solution of the dye with an ion exchange resin, thereby capturing impurity ions. The oil phase is preferably incorporated with an ultraviolet absorber and/or an antioxidant to further improve the light resistance of the recorded image. |
