PURPOSE:To miniaturize a device and to improve the precision of arrangement positions of an image carrier and sheet material carrying guides by using a protective cover, which covers the exposed part of the image carrier at the time of detaching a process cartridge, as a sheet material carrying guide at the time of setting the process cartridge. CONSTITUTION:With respect to an image forming device provided with a protective cover 4 which covers the exposed part of an image carrier 3 at the time of detaching a process cartridge 2, the protective cover 4 is moved above a transfer guide 10b by a link mechanism consisting of rocking arms 5 and 6 and the protective cover 4 when the process cartridge 2 is lowered and set to a prescribed position after being inserted into a device main body 1. The protective cover 4 and the transfer guide 10b constitute a pair of upper and lower guides which guide a sheet material from resist rolls 9a and 9b to an optimum position between a photosensitive drum 3 and a transfer charger 11. Thus, sheet material carrying guides 4 and 10b are arranged for the image carrier 3 with a high precision. |
