The battery torch with a cylindrical housing to house e.g. two cells, has a screw cap on its base, inside which, across the bottom face (7) is mounted a leaf spring (1) to act as an electrical contact with the underside of the batteries. The spring is made of copper or brass, and is bent into a V-shape, with one arm resting horizontally inside the cap, and the other arm sloping up towards the batteries. The horizontal arm has tongues (5) punched near the middle to protrude upwards and grip a peg (6) extending upwards from the middle of the cap. This arm also has a locating hole (9) to assist assembly and has a ahort bent up portion (3) at the end opposite to the sloping arm, to locate in the corner of the cap. |
