The current lead is vacuum tight, temperature and oxidation resistant, and is formed in a quartz glass or a glass with a high softening temperature. Such current lead is intended for halogen incandescent lamps and consists of a molybdenum foil with welded current lead pin of rectangular cross section. The width of the current lead pin (4) corresponds to that of the molybdenum foil (3), the pin thickness is maximum 120% of the single bulb wall thickness. The welding width (a) between the foil and the pin is maximum 2 mm, the pinch engaging height (b) of the pin is at least 2mm, and the pin is of a material whose melting point is more than 1000 deg.C.
