The workpiece clamp control unit consists of an element (3) with a conical recess which presses against the outer conical surfaces (2) of the clamp branches (1), which are fixed to a cylindrical hollow body (6). The pressure for the conical element (3) is provided by a constant-pressure spring ring (7). A piston (15,17) inside the cylinder (6) is operated by compressed air, and as it rises it interacts with one arm of a rocking element (23), which turns on its pivot (22) so that its other arm depresses a projecting collar (20) on a shaft (12) linked to the conical element, retracting it so that the clamp branches can open again. USE/ADVANTAGE - Workpiece clamp control unit gives improved performance and greater precision.
