A device for dividing an irregular sequence of individual switching events which can be detected in total sets into a number of subsets for the purpose of forwarding the former to a corresponding number of information sinks consists of counters allocated to the latter, which are supplied with information indicating the individual switching events such as call switching signals indicating calls, via a distribution device. Each counter is incremented cyclically and in each case with each information item supplied to it by a number of steps which corresponds to a quota relating to the respective subset. Each counter can be set to a counter-individual counting cycle - in the quantitative sense - which is the result of the sum of all quotas. If a counter completes its counting cycle, it starts again from its initial position in the overflow. The distribution device successively forwards an information item in cyclic sequence to one or more of these counters until a counter overflows, whereupon this information item is supplied to the information sink allocated to this counter.
