PURPOSE:To enable the utilization of any printing programs by providing a printing nozzle unit having a plurality, (a), of nozzles disposed at a pitch (n) and by feeding a recording paper at a specific paper feed width in accordance with a printing command signal representing (n) or n/2. CONSTITUTION:Nozzles for injecting ink are provided on a nozzle unit 12 on its face adapted to be brought into correspondence with a printing paper when the printing is performed. The nozzles mounted to (a) or, for instance, four are longitudinally disposed at a pitch of (n), for instance 1/120 inch. Control means 5, 6, 7 output driving signals on the basis of setting command signals sent from a computer 2. The nozzle unit 12 is caused to horizontally travel and injects ink, while a printing paper is upwardly fed so as to accomplish a printing operation. In these circumstances, when a printing command signal representing a printing pitch (n) (1/120 inch) is sent, the paper feed width is set to be an, for instance, 4n. In contrast, when the printing pitch is n/2 (1/240 inch), the paper feed width is repeatedly set to be n/2 and an-n/2, for instance, 4n-n/2 in order, thereby making it possible to maintain the printing speed constant. |
