A stage restraining and short- circuiting the line against overvoltages due to an accidental insulation defect (stage D). A stage damping and absorbing the charge or residual potential, and for locking earth potential (stage C). A means of noting and storing the overvoltage (labelled 4 and 9). A mechanical construction and an arrangement of terminals and elements which is able to prevent discharges between them.
