PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation of facing by a method in which grain sizes of soil are measured frequently by classification by sieves with scattering of water or muddy water is taken to measure its viscosity and specific gravity without scattering of water for effectively determining the proportion of muddy water. CONSTITUTION:A given amount of discharged muddy water is taken through a valve 2 from a discharged mud tube 1 and stored in a hopper 3. A fixed amount of the muddy water is each charged to the sieve of a classifier 13 by adjusting a valve 4 and the sieve 5 is vibrated by a vibrator 14 while spreading water from an opening 16 for classification. The weights of test specimen are detected at a fixed time interval by a load cell 6 and recorded for correcting the amount of water for each grains size. The grain size distribution is then calculated. When water is not spread, the viscosity and specific gravity of discharged muddy water which is finally discharged from the lowest stage sieve 5 for which max. grain size to be held in muddy water are measured. Mud film-forming property and permeation resistance are grasped to control the quality of muddy water. |
