发明名称 METHOD FOR MEASURING OPTICAL FIBER HEATING
摘要 PURPOSE:To measure the quantity of heat, which is applied to optical fibers, by measuring the moving distance of the positions of the end parts of the optical fibers before and after the heating. CONSTITUTION:When the tips of optical fiber bare wires 11-14 are heated, the tips of the optical fiber bare wires 11-14 are fused with the heat and deformed into round shape with the action of surface tension. The tip positions are retreated from the original tip positions, which are shown by dotted lines by the amount of deformation into the round shapes. The retreating distances d1, d2, d3 and d4 are measured. Then, the larger the quantity of heat, which is applied to the tips of the optical fiber bare wires 11-14, the larger is the fusing quantity. Therefore the length of retreating length becomes large. The retreating distances d1, d2, d3 and d4 correspond to the quantity of heat, which is actually applied to the tip of the optical fiber bare wires 11-14.
