The method is for mfg. a thin walled tube with smooth inner and/or outer surfaces. It comprises the steps of providing a strip flexible material e.g. aluminium foil, whose longitudinal edge zone of a regular profile cross-section, the remaining zone is unprofiled. The foil is wound up on a mandrel,possibly in pieces, or is helically wound in a continuous strip. The profiles of consecutive windings grip into each other and the unprofiled zones of consecutive windings border or overlap each other forming the inner surface of the tube. There is at least local connection of the windings by pressing the profiles into each other and using adhesive after winding up of the strip.
