PURPOSE:To ensure the detection of unsatisfactory dots in a printer, by providing a counting means counting clock signals, a comparing means comparing an output value from the counting means with a predetermined data, and a printing signal generation means imparting a predetermined signal to a dot to be written. CONSTITUTION:With one clock advance of a CK1 clock, outputs D-A of a 4-bit binary counter 37 turn to 0001, thus coinciding with the data of D7-D4, i.e. 8Q-5Q data 0001. Therefore, data is outputted from a 4-bit comparator 41. Since the outputs D-A of the 4-bit binary counter 37 from 2 clock to 15 clock are 0010-1111, they are not coincident with any of 4Q-1Q data 0000 or 8Q-5Q data 0001; thus, outputs from 4-bit comparators 40, 41 are not issued and result in a white printing. A similar action may be repeated after the second line printing. Because the presence of an unsatisfactory dot results in a thin one-dot printing, the unsatisfactory dot can be easily detected. |
