TEMPERATURE-ACTUATED FLOW CONTROL DEVICE

The flow control device has a fluid inlet connected to an exhaust line with a switching chamber located in between. The chamber has a freefloating bimetallic circular element which is flexed in response to temperature changes between a first position stopping flow between the inlet and the exhaust line and a second position opening the flow in between. The switching chamber has a centrally located outlet port communicating with the fluid outlet from a tapered area substantially covered by the bimetallic element and inclined toward the outlet port to make the bimetallic element self-centering with the outlet port during closure to insure the positive and repeatable closure.
