Pressure roller or pressure cylinder rolling on the ground, which is arranged, in particular, as a pressure- and/or depth-guidance roller behind the seed drill of a drill machine, the roller or cylinder having on its circumference pressure elements which are respectively arranged at distances from one another and which each have at least one approximately radially oriented holding bar and at least one pressure bar adjoining the latter at an angle and oriented approximately parallel to or at an acute angle to the direction of the axis of rotation of the roller or cylinder, in particular the holding and pressure bars being of one-part design, and there being no connection between the individual pressure bars. In order to provide, for the use of the pressure roller or pressure cylinder on the heaviest and damp to wet soils which may be covered with plant and straw residues and mixed with stones, a pressure roller or pressure cylinder which under all circumstances works free of clogging and which becomes free of clogging again at an increasing speed and is self-cleaning, provision is made for one end of the pressure bar to adjoin the end of the holding bar directly and for the other end (34, 35) of the pressure bar to terminate freely (Figure 3). <IMAGE>
