In order to traverse one axis (x, y, z) of a machine tool or of a robot (R), the traverse direction (+x, +y, +z, -x, -y, -z) is entered by operating a key (T1 to T6). The magnitude of the depression or the actuating force on the key (T1 to T6) determine the traversing speed.
