The invention concerns a process for regulating a respiratory apparatus and said respiratory apparatus. It can, in particular, be useful in the construction of medical apparatus and in particular apparatus for assisting inspiration of a patient. The apparatus permits a succession of respiratory cycles depending on patient requirements, of frequency FR, consisting of an inspiration phase during which the patient is supplied with a volume of respirable gaseous fluid, called the current volume VT, and an expiration phase. The patient also has his own natural spontaneous respiration and a pressure in his respiratory passages Paw. According to the process: an adequate theoretical respiratory value, called respiration per minute Vmn optimal, is established for the patient in function of his condition and natural spontaneous respiration; a minimum value of the current volume VT which the patient should inhale, called mini current volume VT mini, is established; a maximum value of the pressure in the respiratory passages, Pax max, is established for the patient; the total current volume VT supplied to the patient during each respiratory cycle is monitored; the artificial respiration is controlled using the set values of respiration per minute Vmn, minimum current volume VTmini, and maximum pressure in the respiratory passages Paw max so as to satisfy the relation Vmn=FRxVT in order to vary automatically the artificial respiration from spontaneous breathing to controlled breathing, or vice versa, in function of the patient's natural spontaneous respiration. |
