The drive is esp. suitable for a sliding door on a compartment in a vehicle carrying explosive materials. The drive is of the push-rod type, comprising a flexible rod (7) guided in a tube (6) or pipe. This is fitted with a full-length flexible threaded spindle (9) engaged by a serrated wheel in a housing (5). The wheel is connected to the motor (1) via a detachable coupling. The rod may be protectively covered (15) in the area for activating the door.
