PURPOSE:To provide a leather powder-containing resin material providing coating films, films, etc., containing homogeneously dispersed fine leather powder therein, by mixing a ground leather powder-containing solvent with a resin material, the ground leather powder-containing solvent being produced by dryly grinding leather powder having an uniform particle diameter into an ultrafine powder state and subsequently mixing the ground leather powder with a solvent under stirring. CONSTITUTION:Leather powder containing <=80mu size fine leather powder in a volume ratio of >=85% to the total amount of the leather powder and having a water content of <=10wt.% is first reground with a dry grinding machine such as a jet mill into an ultrafine leather powder containing <=15mu size leather powder in a volume ratio of >=80% to the total amount of the leather powder. The reground leather powder is subsequently mixed with a solvent under stirring and the ground leather powder- containing solvent is mixed with a resin material. The leather powder used as the raw material is preferably obtained by applying a steam heating process to a leather material to decompose the triply helical structure of the leather tissue, drying the decomposed leather, grinding the dried leather and subsequently screening the ground leather to provide <=80mu size leather powder in a volume ratio of >=85% to the total amount of the leather powder. |
