<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of a controller by actuating one of thyristor converters connected in series as a by-pass circuit in case the output current of an excitation device is in a low condition. CONSTITUTION:Secondary windings of a transformer 4 are connected so as to have a phase difference of 30 deg., and thyristor converters 5A and 5B are connected to each of the secondary windings. The output of the thyristor converters 5A and 5B is connected in series, and is supplied to a field winding 2 of a synchronous machine. Ignition signal generation circuits 6A and 6B provide the thyristor converters 5A and 5B with ignition pulses synchronized with AC power supply of the thyristor converters 5A and 5B. On the other hand, when the output current of an excitation device is less than a specific value, a signal Ox is outputted from an output detector 10. According to the constitution, a pulse 'or' circuit operates the thyristor converter 5A as a by-pass circuit.</p> |
