A dental device comprises an instrument holder 1 with individual places for a number of dynamic dental instruments 2, an instrument selection device for the selection of an instrument from the instrument holder 1, a pedal switch 4 with a movable adjustment member 5 for activating and adjusting a selected instrument and activating any auxiliary functions in connection with the operation of this instrument and a microprocessor 3 for monitoring and controlling instrument operating functions and said help functions. Connected to the microprocessor 3 is a monitoring and control panel 9 with a number of function indicator fields 13-16 for visual indication of instrument operating functions and auxiliary functions, sub- functions or function sequences and a selector switch 17- 20 connected to each function indicator field 13-16 for selecting a function indicated in the field. The total number of selectable functions, sub-functions and function sequences is ordered in logically structured function sets, each comprising a number of functions, sub- functions or function sequences corresponding to the number of indicator fields, and the microprocessor 3 is disposed to be able to make the change between said function sets on selective activation. <IMAGE>
