PURPOSE:To permit a Japanese text and an English text to exist in a mixed state and thereby improve a printing balance during their coexistence by seeking a printing area for Japanese font that remains from the printing length of a single line and the printing length of English font, and equally allotting Japanese characters to the printing area for Japanese font. CONSTITUTION:The number l of printing dots of a single line is sought by an arithmetic and logic operation based on previously set printing format data, and an English text which exists in a mixed state in printing data of a single line is detected to obtain the length le of printing dots in a single line by arithmetic and logic operation. Then a character pitch for each Japanese text character of printing data in a single line is sought based on a calculation equation l-le/number of Japanese characters = S and at the same time, the number of residual dots(a) is sought as well. These are allotted to each Japanese text character of printing data in a single line, and the allotments are set in a character pitch table in RAM 11. The character pitches decided for Japanese and English text characters are written into the character pitch table of the RAM11. Later, a character pattern of printing data of a single line is developed in accordance with the set contents of the character pitch table and a single line of data is printed. |
