In order, in the case of exhaust-gas systems which are enclosed by insulation shells for reducing the heat radiation, to avoid the rattling which occurs after a relatively short period of time as a result of the ends of the insulation shells widening, the invention proposes to introduce either a prestressed wire-mesh ring or an expandable mat in the end regions of the insulation shells. Consequently, the widened ends are reliably held at a distance from the exhaust-gas line, with the result that the rattling of the insulation shell on the exhaust-gas pipe is reliably prevented.
