A method for warming up or crisping bread products, such as rolls, pretzels, croissants or the like, includes a toaster which is provided with at least one slot for receiving a slice to be toasted and with a heating device. The slot or slots (9, 10) are used as hot-air ducts, deflecting ducts (5) below the slots ensuring an air supply and/or air deflection and a top (14) being arranged above the slots, which top is open on the underside at least in the region of the slot or slots (9, 10) and into which the heated air is channelled. <IMAGE>
