PURPOSE:The obtain low-sulfur reduced iron at a high rate of metallization by reducing pellets of fine iron ore charged into a firing furnace together with a reducing agent and a desulfurizing agent to a prescribed rate of metllization and by allowing the pellets to stand in a reducing atmosphere for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:Pellets formed by pelletizing fine iron ore are fed to a rotary kiln 2 through a moving grate furnace 1. At the same time, a solid reducing agent 3 and a solid desulfurizing agent 4 are charged into the kiln 2. When the rate of metallization reaches 90-95% in the kiln 2, the pellets are allowed to stand in a reducing atmosphere for >=15min. Thus, low-sulfur reduced iron is obtd. at such a high rate of metallization. |
