The ball-catching fence substantially consists of a net (24) suspended on a supporting cable (21). The supporting cable is stretched between concreted-in posts, the end posts (10) being stiffened in order to absorb the cable traction. The distance between the posts can be up to 20 m. The cable can be tightened or loosened by means of a cable drum fixed to the bottom of one post, so that the net can be lowered when not required. In the region of the posts, the supporting cable is in each case received by a horizontal pipe (18), each pipe being attached to a sleeve (15) whose vertical position on the respective post can be fixed. <IMAGE>
