<p>PURPOSE:To make the threshold value of whole element low voltage and uniform value by providing minute and uniform projection on the surface of an orientation film of ferroelectric liquid crystal display elements. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 are provided to make impression of voltage to a liquid crystal layer and to faces that hold the liquid crystal layer between and in contact with the liquid crystal layer possible. Further, a transparent substrate in which an orientation layer is provided to cover the face of electrodes to arrange liquid crystal molecules in a direction parallel or nearly parallel to the face of electrodes and a seal part formed between substrates 1, 1 to enclose the liquid crystal layer. In this case, the liquid crystal shows ferroelectricity and minute and uniform projections are provided on the surface of an orientation film. Thereby, the device can have uniform threshold characteristic, and irregularity of display can be prevented.</p> |
