PURPOSE:To provide excellent contact start-stop durability even under high-temp. high-humidity conditions by depositing a lubricating agent consisting of a compd. having an org. salt structure and fluorine compd. on a protective carbon film to improve the lubricating effect. CONSTITUTION:The lubricating agent 4 consisting of carboxylate or sulfonate and fluorine lubricating agents is deposited on the protective carbon film 3 of a magnetic recording medium constituted by forming a thin magnetic film 2 and the protective carbon film 3 successively on a nonmagnetic base. The carboxylate or sulfonate is the compd. having the org. salt structure and is exemplified by the long chain carboxylate, perfluorocarboxylate, long chain sulfonate, perfluorosulfonate, etc., expressed by the general formulas, etc. In the formulas, R denotes a hydrocarbon group or perfluoroalkyl group. X(+) denotes metal ions of alkali metals and alkaline earth metals, etc. Perfluoropolyether, perfluorocarboxylic amide, perfluoroalkyl ester of carboxylic acid, etc., or the deriv. thereof, etc., are usable for the fluorine lubricating agent. |
