A silver halide color photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the silver halide color photographic material contains a magenta dye forming coupler represented by the general formula (I) and a compound represented by the general formula (II) in the same layer <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 is represents an aromatic group, an aliphatic group or a heterocyclic group; R2 represents a substituent; Za, Zb, Zc and Zd, which may be the same or different, each represents an unsubstituted methine group, a substituted methine group or -N=, (R'-COO-)nMn+(II) wherein R' represents a substituent which imparts a diffusion-resistant property to the compound represented by the general formula (II); Mn+ represents a hydrogen ion, a metal ion or an ammonium ion; and n represents an integer from 1 to 4.
