PURPOSE:To give both functions of ROM and RAM and to reduce the cost of memory IC by providing one memory IC with a ROM cell array for readout only and also with a RAM cell array capable of both readout and write. CONSTITUTION:The memory cell array of a ROM 8 and a memory cell array of a RAM 9 are built into a memory IC 7. A control section 10 is provided for controlling readout of the memory cell arrays 8 and 9 and write of the memory cell array 9. In addition, an address decoder 11 is provided for specifying addresses of the memory cell arrays 8 and 9. Thus, both functions of a ROM and a RAM can be obtn. by one memory IC.
