A device for operating a gate is attachable to, say, a metal gate. The device includes a pushbar (2) on each side of the gate; when either pushbar is pushed, a cable (4) attached thereto acts to withdraw a spring-loaded bolt (3) from a latch means (5) on the gatepost (9). Incorporated in the latch (5) are means to prevent the gate from swinging open again once the bolt (3) has engaged with the latch (5). |
