PURPOSE: To measure radioactive rays accurately over a wide range of dose and temperature range by irradiating a test piece with reference ionization radioactive rays before applying ionization radioactive rays to the polyethylene test piece and then heating, deforming, and then cooling the test piece while retaining the deformed state. CONSTITUTION: Reference ionization radioactive ray with a dose of 50-1,000KGy irradiates a polyethylene test piece. Then, it is heated at 383-573K. The heated polyethylene can be plastically deformed without losing its binding property and is deformed and machined at a ratio of 5-800% for the initial dimension of the test piece. In the case of the second irradiation of the test piece due to radioactive rays to be measured with an extremely high power, an excessively rapid shape memory effect appears in the test piece so that the test piece is restricted by a fixed clamp while maintaining a first deformation state to prevent it, the test piece is removed and a second heat treatment is performed after the second irradiation by ionization radioactive rays. To improve measurement accuracy by a low measurement dose, a polyethylene crosslinking sensitizer that is radiated into the test piece is introduced after the first irradiation.
