<p>A hot restart circuit includes a storage capacitor (24) and SCR (22) connected across a tapped portion (18) of a ballast (14) with a breakdown device (26) to start the SCR (22). A charging circuit for the storage capacitor (24) includes a diode (30), pumping capacitor (32) and choke (34) in series from the ballast tap (20) to the AC line and a further diode (36) interconnecting the capacitors (24,32). The pumping capacitor (32) increases the charge on the storage capacitor (24) in a step-wise fasion until the breakdown voltage is reached, whereupon starting pulses are applied to the lamp (18).</p> |
