Device making it possible to reduce the forces exerted manually on the winches of sailing ships being sailed with small or family crews not having available great muscle power. It consists of: - an inlet orifice 19 on the top part enabling the handle 2 of the winch 1 to be attached in a removable manner, this handle being of standard format, with an 8-sided bore with or without locking device in the central pinion 7 of the epicyclic reducer device; - an attachment ring 18 on the central body 4 of the reducer which may thus be connected, for example by a metal chain 5, to a hook 17 attached to the ship's deck; - an outlet member 6 of 8-sided square format corresponding to the standard format of winch handles. <IMAGE>
