PURPOSE:To ensure that the size of a supporting part for a retaining ring is smaller than the overall size of a bearing and variations in a clearance can be maintained to be small irrespective of expansion and contraction of the bearing, by providing a bearing having a supporting part for a retaining ring, in an engaging groove provided along the outer periphery of a rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 14 is mounted on a rotary shaft 12a so that it can be slidden in axial directions, and an E-ring 15 in the state of being inserted in a slit 14b is fixed to a groove 12b, whereby the sleeve 14 is mounted in the condition of being restricted axially with respect to the shaft 12a, with a clearance equal to the difference between the width of the slit 14b and the thickness of the E-ring 15. With the E-ring 15 thus held in the slit 14b, adjustments conventionally required are not necessary, assemblage is facilitated, and variations in the width of the slit 14b with expansion and contraction due to temperature variations or due to a swelling action are small. Therefore, the clearance is not varied greatly, and an appropriate clearance can be constantly maintained. |
