A slat grid for furniture on which to sit or lie, having resilient slats (12) which can be deflected out of their normal position downwards to a greater degree than the respectively adjacent slats, is so designed that these slats (12) are connected at their end faces in each case to support plates (14) which, for their part, are vertically resiliently mounted and are additionally pivotable about a horizontal axis running parallel to the slat longitudinal axes. The slats (12) are connected to the support plates (14) via known, flexible support elements (13). The support plates (14) can be lowered downwards out of their normal position counter to the action of spiral springs (18) or comparable spring constructions and additionally pivoted about a centre axis. This construction results in a large range of variation with respect to the deflection of the said slats (12) in dependence on the particular load or use situation. <IMAGE>
