NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [X<1>, X<2> are alpha-amino acid residues where a peptide bond is formed from the COOH in the X<1>alpha-amino acid and the -NH2 in the X<2>alpha-amino acid or vice versa; R<1> is H, lower alkyl; R<2> is lower alkyl; the H in NH2 of the X<1>alpha-amino acid may be substituted with an aliphatic or aromatic carbyloxycarbonyl or the like]. EXAMPLE:t-Butyloxycarbonyl-L-prolyl-L-leucyl-L-alanyl-hydroxamic acid. USE:collagenase inhibitor. PREPARATION:The compound of formula II is used as a starting agent to extend the peptide chain on the BOC-N group side so that the X<1>-X<2>-group is formed, then the O-benzyl on the hydroxamic acid side is eliminated. |
