The invention relates to motor-vehicle doors, in particular hatchbacks for passenger cars and estate cars, which are provided with a special operating device which allows the said vehicle doors to be opened and closed without the person's hand being dirtied. For this purpose, at a suitable point on the vehicle door there is/are attached one or more movable second surfaces which in the rest position cover the said points and by being folded back into an operating position form a handle-type gap which with its inner opposite surfaces makes available dirt-free surfaces for the person to place his hand on.
