In a thermostatically controlled mixing valve for connection to a hydraulically controlled instant heater having a two-part closure body which is arranged movably between the valve seats of the double valve for the hot and cold water, is coupled to the thermostat, and whose parts are displaceable to a limited extent relative to one another, to improve and adapt the control characteristics in an optimum manner, it is proposed that the control of the hot and cold water inlets take place in three phases, the two parts of the closure body being arranged and positioned in the rest position, in the case of a thermostat temperature lying below the reference value, in such a way that only the hot water inlet is in a throttled open position such that, when the water drying operation is begun, firstly the heating of the instant heater is switched on and, with the increase in temperature then following, the hot water inlet is opened further and, when the reference temperature is exceeded, the cold water inlet is opened in a manner known per se, but the hot water inlet remains in a fully open position and, when the actual temperature increases further or the reference temperature is lowered, the cold water inlet remains in a fully open position and throttling takes place on the hot water inlet.
