A retaining device is proposed for an electrical transmitter element (10) of essentially cylindrical shape whose electrical connecting leads (23) are arranged on the end opposite the active end (13). A sleeve (12) which is provided with a longitudinal recess (11) is used for accommodating the transmitter element (10), at least one longitudinal channel (14), which accommodates the connecting leads (23), being arranged in the wall of this sleeve (12) and opening laterally in the region of the sleeve end (17) on which the active end (13) of the transmitter element (10) is located in the inserted state. This retaining device makes it possible both to match commercially available transmitter elements to different insertion openings and to insert them in blind holes without any risk of the connecting leads (23) being damaged. <IMAGE>
